Following the earthquake that struck Istanbul yesterday around noon, causing unease among citizens, teams from the Valide Humanitarian Aid Association quickly took to the field to carry out meaningful support activities. Association volunteers provided hot soup and simit (Turkish bagels) last night to Istanbul residents who had to spend the night in open areas such as parks and gardens after the earthquake.
Due to the anxiety caused by the tremor, many citizens chose to spend the night outdoors instead of returning to their homes. During these challenging hours, Valide Humanitarian Aid Association swiftly organized, ensuring citizens were not left alone. Teams reached out to people in designated critical parks and gardens, distributing hot soup and simit to warm them in the cold weather.
Solidarity and Moral Support
This activity carried out by the association's teams not only met a physical need but also aimed to provide moral support to the earthquake-affected citizens and make them feel they were not alone. Citizens expressed their gratitude for the refreshments and the care shown.
Regarding the aid activity, association officials stated, "Being by our nation's side during difficult times is our most fundamental duty as the Valide Humanitarian Aid Association. It was important for us to be able to stand by our citizens who could not enter their homes after the earthquake, even if just a little, and offer them warm refreshments. We will continue to act with the power of solidarity in such situations."
Valide Humanitarian Aid Association Will Continue to Be on the Field
This effort was carried out as part of the association's mission to stand by the community during disasters and emergencies. Valide Humanitarian Aid Association reiterated its get-well wishes to all citizens affected by the earthquake, stated that it would continue its support activities in times of need, and once again emphasized the importance of unity and togetherness in difficult times.
