The devastating earthquakes of February 6, 2023, which affected millions of people, will be remembered as one of the darkest days in Turkey’s history. However, during this challenging time, Valide Humanitarian Aid Association was on the ground from the very first moment, mobilizing to heal the wounds of the affected communities.
Immediately after the earthquake, our search and rescue teams reached the disaster areas and began operations. During this process, we successfully rescued dozens of injured individuals from the rubble. Following the search and rescue efforts, we delivered ready-to-eat food to the teams working in the rubble and to the earthquake victims.
We provided additional support by supplying blankets and winter clothing to those in need. Once the initial acute phase was over, we set up hundreds of tents to provide shelter for displaced individuals in the affected areas. Additionally, we established tent classrooms to support the continuation of education.
This great disaster once again reminded us of the power of unity and solidarity. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our donors and volunteers who helped us deliver aid, reaffirming our commitment to building a stronger future together.
We hope that such a disaster never happens again and remind everyone of the importance of being more prepared for emergencies as a society.
As Valide Humanitarian Aid Association, we stand by our children in Yemen, one of the world's most challenging humanitarian crises, who are striving to continue their education despite the impossibilities. Guided by our principle of “equality of opportunity in education,” we provided nutritional support to enable Yemeni students to focus solely on their studies.
