"Cashless Store" Opens in Esenler

The "Kindness Store" (İyilik Mağazası), brought to life by the Valide Humanitarian Aid Association, was officially inaugurated with a ceremony held in the Fevzi Çakmak Neighborhood of Esenler. Attended by Esenler District Governor Süleyman Özçakıcı and Esenler Deputy Mayor Kenan Yaşar, the store began serving those in need, standing out from similar initiatives in Turkey by stocking exclusively brand-new items on its shelves. A monthly shopping credit is assigned to approved applicants via a dedicated algorithm; everyone walking through the door is welcomed not as an "aid recipient," but as a valued customer. Browsing the aisles, trying on selected garments in fitting rooms, beneficiaries complete their checkout without paying any money and leave the store bags in hand.

Operating humanitarian aid missions across Turkey and globally since its foundation with public-benefit association status, Valide Humanitarian Aid Association has introduced a new model to social welfare. Launching with the motto "A Store That Touches Hearts," the Valide Kindness Store opened its doors at Fevzi Çakmak Mahallesi 1119 Sokak No: 32C, Esenler.

High Protocol Attendance The opening ceremony at 12:00 was attended by Esenler District Governor Süleyman Özçakıcı, Esenler Deputy Mayor Kenan Yaşar, District Mufti İbrahim Özen, District Director of National Education Feyzullah Sert, NGO representatives, Valide Humanitarian Aid Association executives, volunteers, and many citizens. Following the prayer, the ribbon was cut to officially open the store. Protocol members toured the facility and received detailed information regarding its operational model.

A True Shopping Experience, Not Aid Parcels The store’s operational system completely departs from traditional aid distribution methods. People in need who apply to the Valide Humanitarian Aid Association and receive approval after evaluation are allocated monthly shopping credits calculated by a specialized algorithm. Beneficiaries visiting the store enjoy an authentic retail experience just like any other shopper: they browse the sections, inspect items, try them on in fitting rooms, look in the mirror, and make their own choices. No cash transactions occur at checkout; recipients leave the store with a smile, carrying their shopping bags.

Only Brand-New Products on the Shelves While most social markets and charity boutiques across Turkey feature second-hand or surplus goods, Valide Kindness Store exclusively carries brand-new, tagged clothing and footwear. The association explains this standard through the project's core philosophy: "When a mother chooses something for her child, she wants the very best."

Objective: A Dignified Shopping Experience At the heart of the project lies an aid approach that honors personal choice and human dignity. By letting individuals decide what they need rather than the charity making decisions for them, the model transforms traditional charity from a mere "giver-receiver" transaction into a dignified shopping journey.

Speaking at the inauguration, Muhammed Faruk Pirdal, President of Valide Humanitarian Aid Association, shared the project's vision: "We have conducted aid operations for years and constantly asked ourselves the same question: How can we reach our brothers and sisters in need without hurting their feelings, upsetting them, or making them feel embarrassed? The Kindness Store is the fruit of this reflection. No one holds their hand out here. Everyone who steps inside is our guest: they browse the racks, try on what they like in the cabin, and make their own picks. Cash is not accepted at our counters, and second-hand items are not placed on our shelves. Because if a mother buys something for her child, she wants the best. Our purpose is to do good while preserving human dignity."

Applications Ongoing Beneficiaries seeking assistance can apply via the aid request form on www.valide.org.tr or by calling +90 212 569 33 33. Donors and philanthropists can also support the project through the same channels.

What is zakat? Who is obliged to pay zakat?

What is zakat? Who is obliged to pay zakat?

Zakat, one of the five pillars of Islam, is an act of worship that obligates financially capable Muslims to give a specified portion of their wealth to those in need. Zakat is not merely charity; it is an essential practice that ensures social balance, promotes economic justice, and purifies the giver from material attachment.
